The US Currency Redesign's goal was to conceptualize and reimagine the United States currency using individuals that had a large impact and influence on society.
The redesign features all current required marks to hold true validity and are scaled to size of the current US currency. I chose to focus my redesign of the United States currency around the concept of popular sports figures who had a huge impact not only on the field but off of it as well.
Thus, I chose Billie King Jean and Muhammad Ali to represent my bills. The reasoning behind choosing the $20 and $10 bills are that they are two of the most commonly used bills in the United States.
Muhammad Ali
Strongly considered by most as the best boxer to ever step foot inside a boxing ring, Muhammad Ali also impressed outside of the ring with his involvement during the Civil Rights era. Ali embraced the role as a mouthpiece for many people, speaking out and acting against racial inequality and injustice in America. Muhammad Ali was coined the "People's Champ" righteously so.
Billie King Jean
Though she won 39 Grand Slam titles, Billie King Jean biggest win came in 1973 when she defeated Bobby Riggs during the "battle of the sexes". King was an advocate for social change – gender equality more specifically. She believed in equality both on and off the field, which was later mandated by Title IX.
